The Pontiac
Model
Introducing, The Pontiac.
Radack's short scale hollow body electric guitar. Abundance of soul, vibe, and tone.
Lightweight - Fat Neck - Resonant.
Design
While certain design features, such as scale length and hollow body construction will remain consistent throughout every build, every Pontiac is an original, custom designed piece with its own theme, style, unique voice and character.
Hardware
The nickel silver tailpiece is custom fabricated in-house. Its string-thru body design maximizes body resonance. Add to that - open geared 3X3 tuners and your favorite Tune O'matic style bridge.
Body
Hollow Body Design.
My personal 1959 Gibson ES-330 continues to be my touchstone reference and inspiration.
The tops and backs are applied separately, creating a finished product that has more in common with acoustic builds than the typical thinline electric guitar.
The body has a neck and tail block that function as its main core.
Electronics
Though the acoustic properties of this guitar are clearly evident with its unplugged natural acoustic volume, resonance and sustain, don't be mistaken:
The Pontiac is a formidable thoroughbred ELECTRIC guitar.
A variety of the best pickups out there are used in these guitars, Lollar, TVJones, Duncan, Mojo-UK.
Mojotone Vintage Taper CTS potentiometers and an Orange Drop complete the onboard signal chain.
Neck
Pontiac-Hemi Specs:
Neck scale length - 23.25”
Fat ‘59 style carve - 0.87 at the 1st to 0.97 at the 11th.
Wide nut - 1.75” and a 12” radius
The Pontiac Hemi
Hemi Model
The Radack Hemi is the first variant in The Pontiac line. This model has a 6-foot radius hemispherical arched top.
With a solid center block under the bridge this guitar leans into that ES-335 territory.
Tailpiece
The Hemi has an original custom fabricated in-house ebony tailpiece, a static, hingeless, string thru body. The low profile of this tailpiece increases break angle at the bridge creating a more direct drive response.
Finish
Utilizing the hand applied french polish technique on the neck and body and a minimal use of grain fill creates a shellac based finish which is impossibly thin and rubbed out to a beautiful satin sheen.
